Brooke Satchwell forgives Newton

Actress Brooke Satchwell has accepted an apology from Matthew Newton according to an article in today’s Herald-Sun.

Satchwell was at the centre of a domestic abuse case involving Newton, which this week saw a conviction against the actor quashed in a Sydney court.

In her statement Satchwell says, “Many things defy comprehension until they are experienced.

“This has been an extremely difficult time in my life, from which I am endeavouring to heal and grow. Despite the pain and sadness I feel at the destruction of a loving relationship and moments yet to be enjoyed, I bear Matt no malice and am relieved that he has recognised and addressed these unfortunate issues.

“I wish him only happiness and success in the future.”

Satchwell, currently filming Nine’s Canal Road, went on to urge men and women to report domestic abuse.

  1. Congratulations to the journalist who wrote this article, for exposing the truth of what this horrific incident is – DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Congratulations to Brooke for finding the inner strength to end her torture by leaving this horrific and unhealthy relationship, and for her growth from victim to survivor. By speaking out, Brooke, you are helping others to also become survivors. The only one to be ashamed here is Matthew – his actions are inexcusable. As I say, “in order to move on, you have to forgive without ever hearing sorry”. Rachel K, Founder, “SHOUT! Speak Out & Stop
