Suddenly, its 20 years since Scott & Charlene

July 1st marks 20 years since the wedding of Scott and Charlene.

The legendary Neighbours wedding is seen by many as the defining moment in the soap’s long history, and is still revered by thousands as television’s ultimate soapie wedding.

The wedding of the two beloved characters took place at the Holy Trinity Church in Box Hill, metropolitan Melbourne, and won the two hearthrobs the front cover of TIME Magazine in Australia.

On the day the episode aired Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan appeared at Parramatta Shopping Centre where 4000 fans created hysteria.

The wedding ‘love theme’ Suddenly by Angry Anderson sold 250,000 copies and the episode script, signd by writer Ray Harding, fetched £2,000 at Sotheby’s in London.

Alas as with most good Neighbours, Queensland beckoned for the couple and the two drifted off into soapie sunset.

These days, Minogue is making a musical comeback whilst Donovan is to appear tomorrow in a special Andrew Lloyd Webber-devised sequence at the UK’s Concert for Diana.
