Top wins for Monday

Some interesting results from Monday’s viewing.

Neighbours passed the 1m mark with its much-hyped “6.30 change.” TEN will be delighted with this.

Australian Story’s emotional profile of Belinda Emmett scored a huge 1.4m viewers. Meanwhile Border Security continues to rise, now at 1.9m while Surf Patrol slipped to just under 1.5m viewers, no doubt losing ground to the ABC.

And as Top Gear (829,000) enjoys alternative audiences, it was a slim 1,000 viewers behind Nine’s 20 to 1 (830,000) which was a big loser on the night. The SBS show is having its best ever season as viewers illustrate a frustration with commercial offerings. If not for Australian Story SBS probably would have beaten Nine.

  1. TEN may have reached the 1m mark for it’s over-hyped “new” Neighbours, but now it’s hit menopause I suspect most new and old viewers wont feel it’s a must-see to follow tonight…

Everyone watching at my place was just shocked by how stupid it was, stupid music in the background of just about every scene, a wedding that really didn’t show a whole lot of emotion surely no chance at a Logie winning performance here. A new bogan family arriving. It’s still tragic, give it a year and UK will say ship the new ramsay street lot to the UK we’ll show you how WE want it..

As the show went to the final advert-break my younger sister and I wondered how they will wrap it up, I said their needs to be a cliffhanger but entering the break with 5 mins remaining I said upon return from the break their is going to have to crash a car in 1 minute before the credits run… and sure enough they did..

It’s a shame Damian is leaving JOY’s Bumper to Bumper program, if Neightbours is going to continue be a bore the audience might be about to grow for radio in this timeslot!? lol

  2. NEIGHBOURS …

I have to agree with “jack!”

The show is a significant improvement on the “looks” – clearly the film they’re using is more appealing to the eye. It certainly had more pace and I can only hope those 1Million+ figures continue. Good stuff.
    Jay.

  3. TORCHWOOD:
I agree with your assessment of last night’s Torchwood (as mentioned on JOY) that it was the worst episode. I am not a fan of horror and that is all it was. It all picks up from here …
    Jack!

  4. NEIGHBOURS:
I hate to admit that I thought Neighbours “looked” really great last night … what did they do differently? It used to look so cheap. I actually managed to handle watching half the episode for the first time in history … and, shock! horror! I will watch it again tonight!
    It just seemed more classy.
    Jack!
