Emmys live on Bio

The Biography Channel will air the 59th Annual Emmy Awards live in real time from 10am Monday September 17.

Ryan Seacrest from American Idol has been announced as host. This year it seems super-smooth will take precedence over comedy.

Foxtel has a long history of live-to-air award telecasts including The Golden Globes and The Tony Awards.

Bio will also screen the Red Carpet Arrivals, an Emmys Guide To Show, Emmys Countdown, and Emmys Fashion Wrap Show.

See The 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards coverage exclusively LIVE on FOXTEL’S Bio. channel on Monday, September 17, from 8.00am EST.

American Idol star Ryan Seacrest will host The 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards which will be televised LIVE from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, in a star- studded gala spectacular.

Bio.’s live coverage starts at 8.00am with the official red carpet arrivals which set the scene for television’s most prestigious award ceremony commencing at 10.00am.

A new red carpet host and fashion expert will grace the red carpet this year, with Lisa Rinna controversially replacing mother-daughter duo Joan and Melissa Rivers. Lisa will bring her inimitable fashion sense and celebrity appeal to viewers as she covers this years Emmy’s fashion hits and misses.

The Emmy Awards recognize excellence within various areas of the television industry. The awards are a symbol of peer recognition from over 12 000 members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Each member casts a ballot for the category of competition in their field of expertise. The Primetime Emmy Awards celebrate excellence in national prime time programming.

Of the 54 nominations for comedy and drama programs as well as lead and supporting performers, 33 were not included among last year’s nominees – a 60% rate of fresh faces and shows. A total of 27 categories will be presented at this year’s Primetime Emmys Awards ceremony.

A vast array of programs exclusively shown on FOXTEL are nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards, including: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (THE COMEDY CHANNEL), Entourage (ARENA), The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan (Bio.), Rescue Me (W.), Deadwood (SHOWTIME), The Colbert Report (THE COMEDY CHANNEL), Late Night with Conan O’Brien (THE COMEDY CHANNEL), Saturday Night Live (THE COMEDY CHANNEL), Spongebob SquarePants (NICKELODEON), Hannah Montana (Disney Channel), The Sopranos (ARENA), Engineering An Empire (THE HISTORY CHANNEL) and Inside The Actors Studio (Bio.).

Bio. will air the Emmys Guide To Show on Thursday, September 13 at 8.30pm in the lead up to the Emmys Awards.

For those super keen fans, Emmys day (Monday, September 17) begins on Bio. at 5.30am with the Emmys Countdown show. (Prior to the LIVE red carpet coverage from 8.00am.)

Ken Ehrlich is Executive Producer of this year’s 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, veteran Bruce Gowers will Direct the awards and Renato Basile will act as Producer.

  1. God I hope Cooper Andreson from CNN is also presenting with Ryan Seacrest. After there not so subtle flirting on Larry King Live when Ryan was filling in for Larry King, it would be great to see them at it again – so to speak.

    And speaking of Ryan Seacrest, maybe the Bon Jovi reject and the one with the bung eyes who fumble their way through hosting Australian Idol could ask Ten for some copies of American Idol so they can see how it is done – properly or wait even better – Get Ryan to host Australian Idol!!!
