Returning: Las Vegas. Gone: Surf Patrol.

Seven will return Las Vegas to its schedule after removing it a few weeks ago.

It will look to the action drama to life its poor Wednesday figures.

“History of Violins” episode will air at 8:30pm Wednesday September 5 and continue thereafter.

To make room, Seven will shift The Force from 8:30pm to 8:00pm Wednesdays, and its current other timeslot of 8:00pm Mondays will remain. This effectively bumps Surf Patrol out of schedule.

The UK Murder Squad series is also dropped from 9:00pm Wednesdays by the changes.

  1. If it’s true that Surf Patrol has been axed, it’ve VERY dissapointing! Kinda ruins the whole “Year of the Surf Life Saver!” The TV show was the pinnacle of it and made “clubbies” proud of what they do! It would be VERY sad if it was true that it was removed because it wasn’t making enough “money!” Especially since Surf Life Savers are Volunteers and do it all for free! Oh well, lets just hope it comes back!

  2. I too think Surf Patrol will be brought back in the warmer months, it makes sense, but to drop it now seems odd as it hasn’t done all that badly, although it did slowly drop from its great opening rating.

The Force is better suited to Mondays at 8pm following Border, they just go better together, i don’t know wht Surf Patrol could use as a good lead-in though.

  3. Surf Patrol was not rating very well that is why Seven have shelved it.

It was not retaining enough of the big audience that tune into Border Security. Because of its low rating it was also providing a poor lead in to the 8.30 program that followed it.

Seven tried The Force after Border on Monday and it retained a lot more than Surf Patrol did, both shows actually increased without Surf Patrol in the mix.

  4. Why would Seven bump Surf Patrol when it rates well?

Well, what goes on in the twisted minds of Seven Programming is best left to the psychologists. This is, after all, the same programming department that bumped My Name Is Earl from the schedule when it was one of the highest rating shows for the week…!

Perhaps they plan to bring Surf Patrol back when the weather warms up. Sadly, programmers umm-ing and ahh-ing about a show’s scheduling almost always results in one thing: total failure. You’d think even the dumb ones at the commercials would have worked out that primary-school-level logic by now…
