Random leak of Summer Heights High by ABC?

Ja’mie would probably call it a ‘random’ act, but was it?

The ABC may only have itself to blame if reports that it accidentally uploaded episode three of Summer Heights High onto its own website before it has aired are true.

The episode was subsequently leaked on YouTube.

So far, only the first two episodes of the new comedy have screened, with suggestions that the ABC may have uploaded the wrong episode.

A spokeswoman for the ABC told the Sydney Morning Herald they were still investigating the matter.

Advance leaks of unscreened TV programmes are a rarity, even more so in the case of Aussie productions.

  1. They wouldn’t be exactly timing the website release with the TV release.

I assume that the web release is meant to be when the first TV airing ends, but really, if it’s on the web earlier, then people get time to download it and can watch it the same day (or even the next morning on their phone or PSP while travelling to work/school) then discuss it the next day with all the people that were able to watch it on TV.

  2. Did anyone else notice that the podcast of episode 2 was released about 20 mins before it began screening on the ABC last week? Is this is normal practice? It stopped me from watching it on TV…
