TEN nabs Conchords hit

The TEN Network has picked up HBO’s comedy Flight of the Conchords.
The series follows New Zealand music-comedy duo Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie who play themselves as low-rent musicians trying to make it in America.
The show has been enjoying critical acclaim in the US for the irreverent manner which has won them audiences on the comedy circuit. They also break into song through each episode.
In the show, Australia is a nemesis for the boys, and there are several gags built around the NZ accent. One New York girl thinks ‘Bret’ is actually named ‘Brit.’
HBO has already ordered a second series.
The show premieres in NZ next week. No airdate here yet.

This show is amazing. One of the funnies comedies I have seen in years and channel 10 had better treat it well.
No Veronica Mars but Smallville announced today!
No Smallville or Veronica sorry.
Heroes announcement should be soon.
anonymous’ comment (smallville & veronica mars)was hilarious, possibly tongue-in-cheek.
they killed those shows, just like the office, torchwood (which I never watched) and most likely this terrific program. I’d def. watch it again if they show it but you should just go to the internet to avoid disappointment…
great site by the way.
Agree with above. Why do Ten bother picking up shows that stray from the norms only to dump them on Sunday mornings? Id rather another channel like ABC or SBS pick it up, you then at least have a bigger chance of it not being dumped mid-season, its starting to shit me now.
This show will have no hope on Ten. They’ll bone it quickly, Torchwood-style.
Do you know when Smallville and Veronica Mars are coming back on?
And has Seven released the dates for Prison Break and Heroes yet?
brilliant
