Bumped: Damages. Returning: Without a Trace.

Hate to say I told you so.

Only hours ago TV Tonight speculated that Damages would move to 10:30pm following lowly figures of only 463,000 viewers last night.

Nine has just announced that’s exactly what it will do.

The show moves by one hour to make way for the return of Without A Trace effective immediately. The first episode from Season 6, “Lost Boy, will air next Wednesday at 9:30pm. It aired in the US on September 27.

Moving from 10:30pm is Comedy Inc which heads off to 11pm Sunday nights as from this weekend. In this deadzone timeslot it now matches TEN’s 10:50pm Saturday timeslot for The Wedge. Yep, first-run Aussie comedy is really a winner. At least in terms of their local quota value, anyway.

And the domino effect is all bad news for any fans of Close to Home (hands up the four of you) which is out of the schedule after all this switcheroo.

  1. I have enjoyed watching Damages but go to bed early while taping the shows I enjoy and watch them the next day. Imagine my frustration when I discovered I had missed the latest episode because I followed the TV Guide and got Without a Trace instead. A good show but not the point. Why does the minority always suffer?

  2. I’m not a great fan of Damages but have been watching it because of people’s recomendations. I really love Prison Break & Summer Heights High, but with only one tv & VCR,have had to forsake SHH to watch Damages. Now I can watch all 3, so that’s good news! thanks Nine.

  3. Damages is the only US drama I watch – I love it, so clever and Patti Hearst (Glenn Close) is the best actress on TV at present. Not to mention Rose Byrne, Ted Danson and him from the OC are also amazing. What a waste of great TV

  4. I think shows succeed not only because they are good but because people form habits and know what’s on when. Channel Nine have completely confused me and as I tend to read news online I don’t have a TV guide sitting around and rely on memory as to when a good show is on. Also TV Guides just aren’t current anyway having been printed weeks before. Life is getting too busy to keep up with all the changes – why not just persist – we should go back to the old days and have networks wait a long time before getting ratings results so they can’t chop and change every week. While a quick change might work in terms of numbers perhaps all the changes will deter people from ever committing to a timeslot.

  5. I don’t watch a lot of Nine, but Comedy Inc. is one of the few I do watch, and I always thought it was under appreciated.

Wednesday 10.30pm is one thing – but Sunday 11pm if way too late for such a good show.

  6. How can Channel 9 expect any of their shows to get a loyal following when they constantly chop and change the timeslots. I suppose I should be thankful that Without A Trace is coming back and not locked away in the vault with ER and Close to Home.
