Frenzied fans mob Chris Lilley

Comedian Chris Lilley was given rock star treatment today as adoring fans waited for hours at a DVD signing.

The normally-reclusive Lilley posed for photographs with fans and signed autographs for all but the media at the ABC Shop at Melbourne’s GPO.

“There’s so many people here and he’s taking his time to personalise everything and have a photo,” Ashleigh Wright, 16, told news.com.au. “Definitely worth the wait,” mum Debbie added.

Fans spilled out onto Little Bourke Street just to wait for the creator of Summer Heights High.

The DVD of the hit comedy has sold 3475 copies in a day, a new release record for the ABC.
