Natalie hosts Ten’s Dance

Natalie Bassingthwaighte has been announced as local host of TEN’s So You Think You Can Dance.

The Rogue Traders and former Neighbours star seems like a good choice for this role, she has considerable experience in auditions and theatrical productions. She’s also enormously popular with the audience demographic.

The gig will allow her to continue her recording and performing work with Rogue Traders, who feature in an upcoming episode of Live at the Chapel on Seven.

Network Ten and FremantleMedia Australia are thrilled to announce Natalie Bassingthwaighte will host the much-anticipated Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance.

Natalie’s position as one of Australia’s most popular entertainment personalities and her breadth of performance experience make her the ideal choice as host. Natalie is a singer, dancer, actor both for television and the stage. Natalie will be complemented by a stellar judging panel including international producer and acclaimed choreographer Bonnie Lythgoe, events-guru and choreographer Jason Coleman and one of Australia’s brightest dance talents Matt Lee.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte said: “I am so excited to be hosting such a fantastic show! I know Australia has amazing dancers and I can’t wait to show them to the country and the rest of the world”.

TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott, said: “We could think of no better person to host one of Network Ten’s biggest shows for 2008. She ticks all the boxes – passionate, credible, glamorous. She has got it all and more. After achieving such tremendous success internationally, we all look forward to welcoming Nat back to the TEN family.”

Natalie, Bonnie, Jason and Matt head to Adelaide on Sunday 7 October to kick off the auditions. Dancers skilled in every genre from the ‘street’ styles of hip hop, to the best of ballroom, salsa, quickstep and jive are invited to come along. Auditions will then continue in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

Natalie launched her television career on Network Ten as Ramsay Street’s favourite bad girl Izzy on Neighbours for which she was nominated for the prestigious Gold Logie Award in 2006. Natalie is also the lead singer of the MTV and ARIA winning electro rock band Rogue Traders, one of the most successful Australian artists of the last two years. Natalie has also performed in various stage productions including Sandy In Grease, The Musical, The Rocky Horror Show and was the lead in Footloose. She has just shot her first lead in the feature film, Prey.
