Kate Ritchie joins Nova

Gold Logie winner Kate Ritchie is joining Sydney radio Nova 969.

The Home and Away star filled in for Matthew Newton earlier this year when he had to pull out due to an ongoing legal case.

Ritchie will finish shooting scenes for the Seven drama in December and remain on screen until April 2008.

She will join with Nova’s breakfast team, Merrick and Rosso from January.

Nova 969 has today announced Kate Ritchie will be joining the Merrick & Rosso Breakfast Show in January 2008.

The Gold Logie winner has been a great friend of Nova’s, since cohosting The Akmal Show in Drive, at the start of 2007.

“We have always wanted to work with Kate full-time – she has enormous potential and listeners love her,” said Nova 969 General Manager Mandi Wicks.

Two months ago, Kate announced she would be leaving Home and Away after 20 years, filming her final scenes in mid-December.

“I had such a great time working with Akmal earlier in the year and I’m excited that Nova has invited me back on board,” said Kate today.

“Radio is the new and exciting challenge I was looking for. I’ve always loved talking to the boys over the years and can’t wait to join them every morning … even if it is 5am.”

“Kate will bring something that has always been lacking from our show … a Gold Logie,” said Rosso.
