A director has been appointed for the pilot of the Americanised Kath and Kim.
He is Paul Feig, who has directed for Arrested Development, Weeds, The Office, Mad Men and 30 Rock.
Feig is best known for creating and producing Freeks and Geeks a 1999 cult comedy about high school students made as the antithesis of soapy teen shows such as Dawson’s Creek.
He has also done a good deal of acting, including an ongoing role in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Subject to the ongoing difficulties from the writers’ strike, the comedy is slated to begin shooting in the US Fall. But at this early juncture it is difficult to say whether new projects will benefit from a window of opportunity, or be put on ice as has happened to Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.
Still no word on who will team with Molly Shannon for the coveted role of Kim.
