New presenter joins Can We Help?

Perth radio broadcaster Geoff Hutchison will join the panel of the ABC’s Can We Help? for its 2008 season.

Supervising Executive Producer Margot Phillipson said, “Geoff brings a high level of journalistic expertise to Can We Help?, along with his wonderful sense of humour and warmth.”

The show hosted by Peter Rowsthorn resumes production next week and returns in February.

Journalist and radio broadcaster Geoff Hutchison will join host Peter Rowsthorn and linguist Kate Burridge for Series 3 of Can We Help? when production begins next week.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the Can We Help? team. It’s exciting to be part of a program that genuinely sets out to help people”, said Geoff Hutchison.

Geoff brings a wealth of experience to Can We Help? with over 25 years in broadcast journalism. His career has seen him travel the world as a sports reporter for the Nine Network in London and Los Angeles, and later as the ABC’s Europe correspondent for both television and radio, based in Brussels.

In December 2003, Geoff returned to Melbourne to rejoin ABC TV’s 7.30 Report and then in 2007, the lure of his home town beckoned with the opportunity to host the morning program on 720 ABC Radio in Perth.

During 2007 Can We Help? has changed lives. The team has reunited mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, brothers and sisters, friends, choir members, aeroplane hijack survivors, and families torn apart by war. Viewers have continued to embrace the show with a national audience growth (5 capital cities) in Series 2 of 35%.

Series 3 of Can We Help? returns in February 2008.
