US Kath: ‘Need to find Kim soon’

Saturday Night Live’s Molly Shannon has spoken about her upcoming role in the US version of Kath and Kim.

“I love the mother-daughter relationship, and I think it’s so relatable. But it is hard because the two women that created it [are] so perfect,” she told Seattle PI.

“I could never imitate what they do. We’ll just try to do our own American version, but keep the essence of the characters.”

When asked if ‘Kim’ had yet been cast Shannon laughed, “No, not yet. They need to find a Kim soon!”

Molly Shannon will also star in the Lifetime-produced telemovie More of Me.

  1. I have seen Molly in Saturday Night Live as well as bit parts in movies with former SNL stars and she is really hillarious and think she will play ‘american’ Kath really well – interesting to see who will play Kim.

  2. I think that what makes Kath and Kim, Kath and Kim is its Australian aspect: for example in the American version is Sharon going to play basketball or baseball?

  4. So… if the original was so great why the hell aren’t they playing that then? :/

    I suppose the show isn’t dumb enough for an American audience. 😐
