ABC appoints new Media Watch EP

The ABC has announced a new Executive Producer for Media Watch, Jo Puccini.

She picks up the role from April after concluding maternity leave. Lateline producer Brett Evans fills in until then.

Puccini first started on Media Watch as a researcher in 2000 and moved to Four Corners where she won a Walkley Award. She returned to Media Watch in 2005 to work as supervising producer and then story editor.

Puccini’s announcement follows the exit of both Tim Palmer and Monica Attard after a difficult year. It returns on Monday February 18 to be presented by former Four Corners’ journalist, Jonathan Holmes.

Press Release:

Walkley Award-winning journalist and Four Corners’ producer Jo Puccini is the new executive producer for ABC TV’s Media Watch.

Her links with Media Watch go back to her time in 2000-01, when she was a researcher for the show, having joined ABC TV from the Seven Network where she worked as a research/producer on The Times, Today Tonight and Witness.

Puccini moved from Media Watch to Four Corners in March 2001, working as a researcher and producer and as the program’s associate producer.

She was joint winner of three Walkley awards for excellence in journalism while working at Four Corners.

She returned to Media Watch in 2005 to work as supervising producer and then story editor.

Puccini will take up her new role at Media Watch in mid April, when she returns from maternity leave.

Multi-award winning Lateline producer and reporter Brett Evans will act as Media Watch executive producer until Puccini returns to work.

Evans has had extensive experience on Foreign Correspondent, Four Corners and Radio National’s Life Matters.

Media Watch will return to our screens on Monday February 18, presented by former Four Corners’ journalist, Jonathan Holmes.
