Farewell Vicar of Dibley

Classic comedy The Vicar of Dibley signs off with two Christmas specials filmed in 2006, in which the Rev. Geraldene Granger falls for a dashing new visitor to the village.

What follows is one of the best visual gags on telly all year. If you intend to watch the show then don’t click ‘play’, but if you want a reminder of how spirited this show has been then watch what happens when the Reverend spies her new man with another woman.

The Vicar of Dibley finale airs 8:35pm Wed on ABC and Part II airs next week.

  1. Luke – read my comment again – I’ve said the US version of the series was not picked up. This is what is on Wikipedia and I am clarifying your comments.

The “real” UK version of Vicar of Dibley (the one we’re supposed to be talking about here) is distributed by BBC in the US, and member stations of the PBS network are able to buy it, and some have; which is exactly what Bea Gass is saying.

    Got that ?

  2. Next week is just as good guys. The final episode save for a sketch staged for Comic Relief.

Goes out in style, with another really good visual gag.

There’s a lovely sentimental behind the scenes montage at the end.

  3. Luke – I think you’ll find the US version of the series was not picked up. The Vicar of Dibley is distributed by BBC in America, and PBS member stations make local programming decisions. I’m sure Bea Gass knows what they’re saying.

  4. stumbled apon it last night, It was the funniest thing I have ever seen, The last gag about the accountant and the pencil, had my wife crying……….Humus
