Wilfred top dog at AFIs

Beloved SBS mutt Wilfred has won two awards at the industry section of the 2007 AFI Awards.

The comedy won Best Comedy over The Chaser’s War on Everything, Supernova and David Tench Tonight.

Adam Zwar (pictured, right) also won Best Actor in a Comedy, pipping his co-star Jason Gann.

SBS had a good night with RocKwiz winning Best Light Entertainment over Spicks and Specks, The New Inventors and The Sideshow with Paul McDermott. The broadcaster also won two awards for Best Supporting / Guest Actor for The Circuit and Call Me Mum.

Matt Saville was awarded Best Director in Television for TV1’s The King.

The ABC’s Bastard Boys won for Best Screenplay in Television. Lockie Leonard won Best Children’s Drama for Nine.

The more glam awards, including the top film categories, will be handed out Thursday and screen on the Nine Network.
