Foxtel’s lauded Crime Investigation Australia returns with a new series from February 28.

It launches with a world premiere analysis of the Truro Murders. In 1976, over a seven week period, seven young women were abducted, murdered and buried in the South Australian town of Truro .

The documentary series will air at 7:30pm on Thursday, February 28 on the C&I Channel.

The series was also picked up by Nine last year. This Sunday evening it repeats the startling episode on The Wanda Beach / Beaumont Murders at 10pm.

FOXTEL’s Crime & Investigation Network will kick off 2008 with the return of the smash-hit, locally produced crime series Crime Investigation Australia when it revisits the horrific murders of seven young women during the 1970s in the world premiere of CIA: The Killing Fields of Truro airing on Thursday, February 28 at 7:30pm AEDST.

The first of 10 newly commissioned episodes for 2008, The Killing Fields of Truro investigates one of Australia’s most notorious serial killings where, over a seven week period, seven young women were abducted, murdered and buried in the South Australian town of Truro .

The spine-chilling episode, hosted by Steve Liebmann, features detailed re-enactments and interviews with key figures from the case including the police detectives, media and the murdered girls’ parents.

The events of the disturbing case began to unfold back in late 1976, during a time when Adelaide and the rest of Australia lived a virtually care-free existence. However, Adelaide was changed forever when seven young women mysteriously vanished from its city streets.

Then, as suddenly as the disappearances had begun, they stopped.

South Australian Police were baffled as there was nothing to connect the disappearances of the girls. Finally, two years into the investigation, the first of a series of terrible secrets was unearthed from the windswept plains of Truro, 80 kilometres north of Adelaide .
