Aussies go barmy for Bolly

Interest in cricket is so high over summer with FOX8’s An Aussie Goes Bolly enjoyed a big debut on Monday, doubling its audience on the previous An Aussie Goes Barmy.

The cricketing series hosted by Gus Worland attracted 426,000 unique viewers over two screenings, making it the highest ranking local series behind Australia’s Next Top Model Series 3.

“By any measure this is a phenomenal result,” said Foxtel’s Brian Walsh.

“It is a credit to Hugh Jackman and the producers at Seed and Granada , who have crafted an imaginative and highly entertaining series, which clearly has engaged with viewers in big numbers. In it’s core demographic of young men, the results are outstanding.

“This is the most difficult demographic to attract to television and to pull 17.7% of this group for the series demonstrates that if the product is right, the viewers will follow.”

Next week Worland visits Hyderabab and get inducted by Adam Gilchrist as honorary 12th man. He also catches up with fast bowling dynamo Brett Lee.

Press Release:

Foxtel’s hot summer line-up continued last night with the premiere of FOX8’s observational documentary smash hit, An Aussie Goes Bolly, ranking as the most watched programme on Australian Subscription Television with a 6.5% share of viewing with a phenomenal share of 17.7% amongst Men 16 – 24.

Last night’s opening episode attracted almost twice as many viewers as the premiere of An Aussie Goes Barmy last summer.

Across FOX8 the programme reached 426,000 unique viewers, equivalent to 7% of Australia ’s Subscription Television population.

An Aussie Goes Bolly also became the highest ranking local series only behind Australia’s Next Top Model Series 3.

The result is also a great win for Hugh Jackman’s Seed Productions, who developed the concept and created the series. This is Seed’s second major production for Foxtel, the first, ‘An Aussie Goes Barmy’ which followed Australian cricket fan, Gus Worland touring with the English Barmy Army.

“By any measure this is a phenomenal result,” said Brian Walsh, Executive Director Of Television and Marketing for Foxtel.

An Aussie Goes Bolly continues Monday nights at 8.30pm on Foxtel’s flagship channel FOX8 with the second episode seeing Gus Worland visit Hyderabab and get inducted by Adam Gilchrist as honorary 12th man. He also catches up with fast bowling dynamo Brett Lee for a game of street cricket.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Gus Going Bolly. Can anyone help on the address for the Prince he played golf with? I can’t help feeling that Ishant Sharma looks a lot like Dizzy with the mullet and the goatee. By the way why is Dizzy out of the Aussie side? He has obviously upset someone. For him to be the pick of the bowlers and batsmen in his last Test series says a lot about cricket politics in the land of Aus

  2. Cracking show! great to see something new and imaginative.

  3. No wonder how many times that god awful ad with Tania Zietta played over and over! Could FOX8 overexpose Gus enough with these 2 shows and that other awful show Singing Office. :thumbdowns:
