Jessica Rowe reads news for Sunrise

Having recently read news on other Seven News programmes, former Today host Jessica Rowe will now find herself reading news on Sunrise.

In an ironic twist she will be seen on the very programme that Nine had recruited her to defeat. She appears from Monday.

One of her former bosses, executive producer at Today Tom Malone told the Daily Telegraph he wished her “all the best”.

“Jess is one of the most lovely people I have ever met,” Malone said yesterday.

“From Today’s point of view, there were never any hard feelings towards Jess; it was between her and management.

“I’m so glad she’s got (baby) Allegra, because I know how much she wanted a child.”

  1. This woman would have to be the most under-rated person on t.v. She is such an inspiration to watch.

If television executives weren’t such losers, they would see this themselves. She deserves so much better professionally.

I hope a network is smart enough to offer her something really good, I would love to see her on television again, and so would so many other people. Jessica Rowe is someone no one can compete with, and I think so many out there are so jealous of her, they see her as a threat.

  2. To Mike & Anonymous, OMG, I have to agree with both of you whole heartedly about Jess…she’s a born news reader, but anything else…I don’t think so 🙁 and that laugh 🙁
Anyway, she shouldn’t be around for too long, as she’s pregnant again, I noticed that this morning…………..

  3. Oh my God, she’s back. I cannot believe it ! That bloody ridiculous laugh of hers, or should I say that “Donkey Hee Haw”, was the reason that we switched to Channel 7 from the Today Show, in the first place. This morning I was on my computer in another room, away from where my wife was watching Sunrise, when that horrible noise (her laugh) put me right off what I was doing. I thought “no it can’t be happening” but sure enough, there she was Jessica Rowe doing the same old, highly nauseating routine. I told my wife that if she did not change channels immediately, I would smash the TV. Jessica Rowe, as anything other than a newsreader, has to be the worst of the worst, and all I can say is, that if Channel 7 want to keep her (and their audience) they had better put a bag on her head, and remove the microphone., for anything other than reading the news. That nauseating laugh of hers, drives me up the wall, and while she is on 7, that channel is definitely banned from our household, on any morning program !

  4. I have been an avid Sunrise watcher for years, but having to watch that pathetic excuse for a presenter/newsreader Jessica Rowe had me wanting to give all the staff at Channel 7 a good kick up the rear end. I tried to put up with her on Monday, but she hasn’t changed and I don’t understand how 7 possible believe she could. She might be reading the news but that ridiculous laugh, look at me look at me I need to be the centre of attention, silly high school girly routine, up against the hilarious yet professional and team approach presented by the rest of the team, has forced me to turn to Today on Channel 9 and I will remain there until I know for sure Nat is back and there’s no chance of seeing Jessica anywhere near the Sunrise set. The trouble with that for Channel 7, is that after tuning in for a number of days to a competitor, it gives time to grow and love the format and the situation arises where I might not turn back to Sunrise at all. Listen to your viewers Channel 7, or you might just lose everything you’ve worked so hard to uniquely achieve over the past few years.

  5. I tried, really TRIED to like her on Today, but I found her really annoying. All she ever wanted to talk about was what SHE though on whatever topic – often cutting into guests. That was nothing until she got pregnant. Seemed like every day there was a “pregnancy” segment, where again – she’d mostly talk about herself. I came pretty close to switching to Sunrise – but luckily she got Boned 🙂

  6. yeah your right, she is very articulate and speaks comfortably when just reading the news from atelepropmter, and not trying to interact with anyone.

its like she has no people skills. but to be a good host you have to be able to think fast and talk to anyone about anything.

you can see she is lost for words on that show today when anyone asks her a question that was not prepared earlyer.

  7. Jessica Rowe hasn’t got much beside be able to read a telepromter, abit harsh I know, but hasn’t 10 news at 5 pm in Sydney increased it’s viewer numbers, and hasn’t the today show aswell had better numbers since she left both shows, atleast it’s not as akward as when she was presenting. Like most news readers, there isn’t much substance to what they are about to be anything more than a person who reads words of a screen. And I can say with 100% knowledge that she is not a Journalist anymore so then Naomi Robson was.

  8. Poster No 1, what poor grammar…
She’s have to be one of THE worst “jouranalists” in the country…..REALLY

What happend to the old Australian adage, give her a go. The fact she had to sit next to Karl @ Nine was part of the problem. I think she’ll suit Sunrise. Will Eddie be watching?

  9. As a co-presenter she made a good news reader. At least while she is reading the news she will be the centre of attention, like she seemed to crave on the Today Show. While its just her on camera she wont have anyone else she needs to talk over, leer at with that awful fake smile or prentend to find funny…

  10. Jessica is actually a news reader not a journalist. She has never claimed to be one.

the biggest problem with Jessica on the Today show was she is a very good news reader but not a very good presenter/host. She can’t interview

She is liked amongst the higher levels of management of all the networks. In the case of Seven, it was David Leckie who hired her because he likes her and not Peter Meakin the head of news.

  11. sorry folks, but I cannot recall Jess ever getting a journalism degree – an arts or languages one recently I do believe.

She is a very polarising woman. Personally, I found her charming.

  12. To the first post, she is a great ‘jouranalist’ and I think she was very harshly treated by Nine.

I was a fan of hers since Ten News, where she showed real emotion in her newsreading and helped Ten News Sydney become no. 1 at 5.

  13. She’s have to be one of THE worst “jouranalists” in the country….

The public didn’t like her on TODAY and they voted her out very early on “Dancing…”

Good luck to Sunrise… more reasons to stick with TODAY…
