jtv rebrands as triple j tv

The ABC’s youth network jtv is re-branding as triple j tv.

The ABC says, “triple j is no longer just a radio station. It’s a portal to all the music, comedy and current affairs that Australia’s youth can handle. In 2008, triple j and its talented crop of presenters and guests will continue to bring you the best content to watch, listen, to read and download… under the new name triple j tv.”

Press Release:

triple j tv with The Doctor
—————————-
Saturday 9am-10am, ABC TV
Repeated Sundays at 10.30am on ABC2
On Saturday mornings, The Doctor’s making a house call! There’s still a good reason to get out of bed early as triple j tv with The Doctor replaces JTV Saturday in 2008. Hosted by – you guessed it – The Doctor (aka Lindsay McDougall), triple j tv with The Doctor will feature interviews and comedy segments, plus all the hottest new video clips. There will also be appearances by all your fave triple j presenters.

triple j tv
————
Starts Monday February 11 at 8.30pm on ABC2
Repeated Friday night (after Lateline) on ABC TV
Screening Monday evenings at 8.30pm on ABC2 and repeated on Friday nights on ABC TV, triple j tv gives you an inside peek at what you don’t catch on the radio. Hosted each week by a rotating cast of your favourite triple j presenters, the half-hour show sees the return of some of our most popular segments including ‘Like A Version’ (where artists perform a cover version of their favourite song) and ‘Prime Cuts’ (outtakes, bloopers and all the funny bits from the past week). Also, Ronan Sharkey makes the leap from radio to television to become the new face of ‘Hack’, your weekly fix that puts the ‘j’ in journalism, and there’ll be heaps of artist interviews, plus all the behind-the-scenes goss from around the station.

triple j tv presents
———————
Mondays at 9.30pm on ABC2
triple j does live music better than anyone else in the country. We’ve been broadcasting live gigs across the airwaves on ‘Live At The Wireless’ for as long as anyone can remember. In 2008, triple j tv brings you a year-long series of gigs – filmed exclusively by us – straight to your telly. Bags your front-row seats to some of the hottest gigs in the country, including Operator Please!, Angus & Julia Stone, Kisschasy and the Kaiser Chiefs plus loads more.

·triple j tv presents Gotye
—————————-
Monday February 18 at 9.30pm on ABC2
2007 was quite a year for Gotye. The Melbourne-based producer extraordinaire (aka Wally de Backer) released a remix album, sold out his first ever national tour, saw his excellent album Like Drawing Blood achieve gold record sales and picked up an ARIA Award for Best Male. Phew! In between all that, Gotye and his 9-piece orchestra found the time to record a very special ‘Live At The Wireless’ at ABC’s Melbourne studios. A real treat.

·triple j tv presents Bloc Party
———————————
Monday February 25 at 9.30pm on ABC2
Anticipation was high for the show that Bloc Party performed exclusively for triple j at ABC TV’s Melbourne studios. The UK band’s enthralling brand of indie-rock saw them catapulted to international stardom with the release of their debut Silent Alarm a few years back, and the band rarely play such intimate venues these days. The four-piece turned it on for the cameras, so don’t miss this one.

·triple j tv presents The Grates
———————————
Monday March 3 at 9.30pm on ABC2
The Grates have so much energy, it’s exhausting just watching them. Thanks to triple j tv, you can do so sitting down as we give you The Grates live from Karratha, direct to your living room! Filmed as part of the triple j goes AWOL series, the Brisbane trio play their rather excellent pop songs against a stunning Western Australian backdrop.

ABC2 is the place to be on Monday nights for Australia’s youth, with triple j tv at 8.30pm, Good Game at 9pm, and triple j tv presents at 9.30pm.

triple j tv vodcast
——————–
In a neat ½ hour package comes the triple j tv vodcast, hosted by a different triple j presenter each week and featuring the best bits of triple j tv. In 2007, jtv was the second most downloaded ABC TV program with over 2 millions downloads (trumped only by The Chaser). Head to triplej.net.au for your weekly fix.

triple j’s Hottest 100

Every year, people all across the country and all around the world get together for parties and barbecues and turn up the volume as we broadcast our annual hitlist. This year you can relive all the drama on the telly when triple j’s Hottest 100 counts down the top 10 songs of the year, from 8.30pm on ABC2.

You can also watch a live stream of the event, from The Domain in Sydney, live on triplej.net.au, from 5.30pm-7pm (AEDT).
