Third Test confirmed

Channel Nine will be relieved at news the Indian cricket team will proceed with its tour of Australia.

Nine has confirmed it will air the first day of the Third Test from Perth’s WACA on 1pm AEST on Wednesday January 16.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to make a formal announcement of the continuation of the tour at the end of its working committee meeting in New Delhi later today.

Not having the Test would have cost Nine a fortune in advertising revenue, and summer ratings which have helped bumped prime time including News figures. Last week Nine won the first week of 2008.

Airing the Test from Perth will also knock some early prime time programmes out of schedule on the East Coast, including A Current Affair.
