8 CBS shows in doubt

CBS has renewed 11 of its top-rated series for next season: Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Ghost Whisperer, NCIS, Numbers, Without a Trace, The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.

But missing from the list are How I Met Your Mother, Moonlight, Cane, The Unit, Shark, Jericho, Rules of Engagement and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

CBS had previously picked up new seasons of Survivor and The Amazing Race.

Controversial Kid Nation is effectively dead to any sequels too.

  1. Its really depressing to see everyone making fun of HIMYM. And I don’t mean depressing as in “oh gee, thats annoying”, I mean its really really upsetting. Its a really good show, and every second person in any posting on this website about a comedy show always feels the need to diss it.

    The show has Alyson Hannigan and Niel Patrick Harris. Thats reason enough to keep it going for another 8 seasons. I really don’t see why people hate it so much. Next to Entourage and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, its the funniest show on TV. Is it because its not a bland workplace situational comedy like 30 Rock and The Office?! Because those shows are the ones Australians seem to love heaps, although they bombed in the ratings and only get put on after 11pm at night, when they’re not off the air entirely that is.

    Has anyone actually watched an episode of the show? Because it really isn’t bad at all. Give it a chance, its by far the best CBS show. Quit being so critical, its an awesome show. Please. And neonkitten, why do you think all the writers who went on strike would now be set to unemployment? I don’t understand what you mean by this, it makes no sense to me.

    Please, don’t axe MOONLIGHT … It is brilliant and addictive and the only show on the entire list that deserves a second series!!!!
    Why does this sort of c*** always seem to happen to the shows that I really love? And I know I am not the only one who loves them.

    But I don’t think it really adds up.
    One of the moderators there was meant to be a cameraman for series 1, and he’s said apparently that they were currently filming series 2, but they’re unsure if it were actually to air.

    Also, David, have you read the Ten forums recently?! Everyone’s been wanting an Australian Kid Nation. Even the CBS forums have been bombarded. Do you have any idea if it might actually happen?

  7. Ryler, also very pleased that Big Bang Theory isn’t being nuked without getting a proper chance. Like Chuck Lorre’s other work, it’s very funny; of course, with Nine refusing to show it past episode 4, downloading is the only option.

    How I Met Your Mother has been, sad to say, on a long, slow decline since a brilliant first season. I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with the writers on that one – they had something both funny and special, and then they made it, well, dumb and clichéd.

    As for the rest – well, probably the first of many cases of striking writers getting what’s coming to them. Unemployment 🙂

  8. Moonlight is the only show on the list of possible axings by cbs that I watched and enjoyed.
    Quite disappointed with the way nine pulled it from it’s schedule for no reason.

    Hopefully we haven’t seen the last of Mick St.John .

  9. I am delighted The Big Bang Theory was renewed. This is the best sitcom in years. I am so glad we will have it next season. I am also looking forward to its return with new episodes on March 17.

  11. Only care about New Christine & Shark myself. Shark was rating over 10m and New Christine recently got around 9 or 10m for it’s latest episode so you would think both would be safe.

    How I met your Mother has dipped, the first season was brilliant but the next one was no where as near as good. Adventures of Old Christine, well personally i thought it was boring but that dont mean anything.
    Jericho! Will they be bombarded with nuts again?
    The other shows I dont really know but meh!
