ABC News man retires

ABC Brisbane’s News chief of staff in TV News Albert Asbury steps down today after 32 years in the position -quite a feat in a fickle business.

He has been with the broadcaster for nearly 50 years, joining the then Australian Broadcasting Commission in August 1958 in Townsville, and served as a reporter in rural and regional Queensland before becoming the ABC’s correspondent in Papua New Guinea.

That’s a service worth more than a gold watch or two!
