ABC to air Apology to Stolen Generations

The Apology to the Stolen Generations of Australia will take place next Wednesday morning.

It will air on ABC1 from 8:55am to 10:25am. It will also be broadcast live on radio and online.

The apology will be delivered in Federal Parliament.

The Federal Opposition has agreed to bi-partisan support for next week’s statement, but some MPs have reservations about the word “stolen”.

No doubt the commercial networks will also schedule elements of this into morning programming, The Morning Show, Mornings with Kerri-Anne and 9am with David and Kim.

SBS will also screen The National Apology – LIVE from Parliament House in Canberra, in a World News Australia / Living Black special presentation. Hosted by Anton Enus and Karla Grant at 8:55am AEST

  1. I fully support the apology and agree with the Rudd Gov they they need to do it now and get it out of the way.
My only concern is that it wont change anything and will be seen as not enough.
If you spend your life fighting a cause and making people aware of a cause, its nearly impossible for them to find closure and anything thats done or said is never enough.

  2. My god its taken this long to hear the government FINALLY say sorry and acknowledge the complete devastation this has (and still does) caused to the Aboriginal people and now some view the word “stolen” as an extreme word… It was the bloody government that convinced white families that Aboriginal parents were unfit to care for their children… Amongst all the other horrible things they did!

The government of today needs to START with an apology so the healing can begin!!
