Callea and Campbell dating

Seven personality Tim Campbell has confirmed he is dating It Takes Two and former Idol singer Anthony Callea.

The confirmation on radio station Vega in Melbourne follows ongoing gossip in the Herald Sun that the two were ‘more than friends.’ It had published repeated ‘sightings’ of the two together at the Australian Open, dining and walking around the Botanical Gardens.

Such speculation led to Campbell admitting he was gay last year, including confirming he had been out since the age of 20.

Yesterday Campbell told Vega, “There was stuff written in the paper a while ago . . . and actually Anthony and I are a bit of an item at the moment.

“The question was asked a while ago and we weren’t, but we have gotten to a point where we are very happy together.”

The two performers worked together in a production of ‘Rent’ in Perth late last year. Campbell, whose name has been talked about as a possible new host for Dancing with the Stars, has recently appeared in the lead role of the musical ‘Shout.’

Anthony Callea returns to screens tonight as one of the professional singers on Seven’s It Takes Two.

  1. They do make a really cute couple. I think its great, two high profile Australian celebs who are comfortable in who they are. I was worried all the press about it in the past might drive them apart when they where just friends, so its good it didn’t. It does seem that Australia may just be ahead of the rest of the world, and this is being talked about in most as just two celebs becoming an item, its great to see.
I think first Anthony and now Tim have done a lot for the general public acceptance that we are all equal no matter. I wish them both the best in their future together and the future success of their respective careers. They are both such talented young men.

  2. I agree with bobby about Australia finally growing up – and it’s about time too. Even the media gossip about these two over the past couple of months has had a positive feel – almost like everyone would be genuinely happy for them if they got together. Unfortunately a lot of celebs over the years have felt compelled to keep such things secret to preserve their careers.

They make a cute, talented couple and I wish them much happiness.

  3. I think it’s great that we have two out succesfull Homosexuals with there being no negative impact on there career’s.

Maybe Australia is finally growing up!!
