Georgie Parker signs with Nine drama

Georgie Parker is going to be a busy girl in 2008.

In addition to her appearance in TEN’s Emerald Falls telemovie, she will take a leading role in Nine’s new series Scorched.

Filming for the pilot episode of the show will start in Sydney this week.

Parker will play the premier of NSW in the show, which is set five years in the future, and looks at water scarcity and climate change. Underbelly’s Roger Corser is also believed to be part of the project.

She is also the host of Nine’s new observational series Animal Emergency. Based at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital the show “will take you from the intensive care unit to the surgery, on the road with the hospital’s ambulance service and be there when families arrive with their beloved pets.”

Other Nine dramas for 2008 include more series of Sea Patrol, McLeod’s Daughters, Canal Road, The Young Doctors and The Strip, which will be set on the Gold Coast.

Update: Scorched title corrected.
