GNW getting more bold than beautiful?

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Susan Flannery, who plays Stephanie Forrester, makes an appearance on Good News Week tonight, and reportedly received a standing ovation from the studio audience at the show’s recording.

Last week the show had Jensen Ackles from Supernatural. After participating in one of the show’s games, he then began a chat spot with Paul McDermott, which was, thankfully, short-lived.

GNW isn’t the only show to be doing cross-promos, but hopefully this isn’t a habit of the renewed format.

Otherwise, overseas guests should really be there to play the games. The fact that most games feature Aussie news is something of a misfortune, but that never stopped astute guests like Harry Shearer being semi-regulars on The Panel.

Flannery was in Sydney not for promotional purposes but to visit her daughter Blaise, who is studying locally.

Update: A source has since tipped TV Tonight that Flannery is expected to be the last such cross-promo.

  1. I would imagine the cross-promo‘s are partly about capturing the attention towards GNW‘s return, but largely because Rove is not currently on-air to do it!

Ordinarily leaving 9am as the only other cross-promo-platform?

  2. It wasn’t a personal attack on JA, but a comment on the show getting into cross-promo tricks so early in the show’s new life. I did acknowledge that just as McDermott looked like he was going to settle into an interview, he thankfully cut it short. I’d be disappointed if the show turned into a hybrid of The Panel.

Last time I mentioned HIMYM I didn’t pass any judgment on the show and I’ve previously acknowledged how well 2.5 Men does in the US, though ratings here would suggest its popularity isn’t matched.

I guess I could have re-written “B&B star pops up on GNW” but I was commenting on what appears to be a new trend for the show, which is “pause game, plug TEN show.” Guess we will see how far it goes tonight.

Like all blogs there will always be a balance of opinion.

  3. Why must you insert personal attacks and extreme bias into every piece of information you come across? In this article you’re having an unprecedented attack on Jensen Ackles. In close to every article, you must always put something down. Why? In any article at all mentioning 2.5 men, you always say something like “axe it, bring back Temptation”, not to mention your cold, unreasonably strong hate towards HIMYM, one of the best shows on TV. I come to your site for the best primetime tv info, and its a great resource, but little snippets of your biased opinion here and there are all over the place and are very annoying. You take it all too far at times.

  4. I don’t ever remember Hank Azaria being a regular on The Panel. I do remember Harry Shearer dropping in all the time for a chat.

I enjoyed seeing Jensen Ackles on GNW last week although I do hope that GNW doesn’t just become a tool for constant cross-promotion the way A Current Affair and Today Tonight have.
