It looks like TEN is readying to (finally) launch Friday Night Lights.
The network will screen the 2004 movie starring Billy Bob Thornton at 6:30pm on Saturday March 1st, a good sign that it may follow on with the NBC TV series.
The movie about a high school football team was based on a book of the same name, and itself became the springboard for a critically-acclaimed television series.
The New York Times said of the series that “if the season is anything like the pilot, this new drama about high school football could be great — and not just television great, but great in the way of a poem or painting.”
The Washington Post similarly praised the series as “extraordinary in just about every conceivable way.”
TEN’s move may be a nod to a weekly Saturday spot for the drama. Fingers crossed, guys.

I am so excited Ten is considering this show – despite the american football background, this show is absolutely the best thing on tv. I was thrilled to see Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins) in a promo commercial for 10HD so I hope they go through with it.
Please, please NBC renew this series!!! If you aired it on a different night in the States (other than Friday night – football night) you would get a bigger viewing audience!!!
How much do you wanna bet it ends up on 10HD in a matter of weeks of appearing on 10SD?
I reckon the odds would be shortening after it doesn’t rate like 10 would like it to.
Well finally!
Ugh, they have the worst timing though. We’re about to lose the show and NOW they air it. That’s cruel!
yay! that’s excellent news. thanks, david. 😀
That’ll be right. Just as it’s about to get axed C10 puts it on 😉
