Todd Herzog, a longtime fan of Survivor, won the CBS reality show’s $1 million prize after 39 days of lying and scheming.
He defeated Amanda and Courtney for the prize.
“I wasn’t the strongest. I wasn’t the smartest,” Herzog said during the finale. “But I was definitely the most strategic.”
The 22 year old flight attendant becomes the second gay man to win the show, following on from inaugural winner Richard Hatch.
The finale aired in Australia well after the US, where the next season, Survivor: Micronesia has just launched, with a “Fans v Favourites” edition.
It is the second time the series has visited the region, with the previous outing Survivor: Palau.
No airdate has been announced by the Nine Network.

Another entertaining Survivor series over. Can’t wait for the next one. C’mon Channel 9 – don’t keep us waiting so long this time.
Hmm, note to self, avoid FOX News!
Todd is the second youngest winner. Jenna Morasco, the winner of Survivor: Amazon was 21.
