Cast member dropped from Dirty Sexy

The Darlings of New York will be minus a Juliet when its second season resumes production in the US.

Dirty Sexy Money’s Samaire Armstrong, who plays a fraternal twin to Jeremy, will only appear on a recurring basis.

According to Michael Ausiello, last October “Armstrong entered a treatment facility for undisclosed reasons. Producers were forced to write her out of an episode, but she was back on air the following week. Whether or not Armstrong’s personal issues contributed to her demotion from series regular to occasional guest star is anyone’s guess.

“A spokesperson for ABC Studios declined to comment, but a Dirty Sexy insider tells me that producers decided not to pick up Armstrong’s contract option,” he writes.

It’s all very ironic given rehab is the sort of storyline we’d expect of the Darlings themselves. But being unreliable is one of the worst crimes in the business of show business, and no matter how dirty and sexy they can make it, the bottom line remains money.

  1. I can’t believe the comments I’m reading. I think she is the worst character on Dirty Sexy Money and I have been thinking that the reason is because she is such a bad actress.

  2. This show is horrible, but Samaire Armstrong is a brilliant actress. Her role on The OC kicked ass. Now that her stint on this show is no longer regular, maybe now she can come back to Entourage. She did a great job in the first season and her character could easily be written back in.

  3. This is actually quite a shame – her character on DSM was brilliantly absurd yet believable, and one of the things that gave the show its wonderfully chaotic feel.

In one of the episodes that aired on Seven recently, there was a scene at the end with Samaire and her on-screen twin longing on deckchairs doing their brother-sister-rivalry-affection thing, and at the time I remember thinking just how convincing she was at playing the role of someone whose life is a bit out of their own control. Her facial expressions were utterly perfect for the moment and totally believable. My one thought after that episode was “that girl who plays Juliet is incredible”. Maybe she wasn’t entirely acting after all.

Hopefully she’ll be able to get herself sorted out and back on the screen full-time without being crucified by the gossip press in the process.
