Dance honeymoon ends as media turns

Hit the stopwatch, we are now officially seeing media turn on SYTYCDA’s honeymoon.

Backstabbing! Bitchiness! Headlines that start with B!

Today’s Daily Telegraph details how ejected Sydney dancer Kassy Lee was “overheard complaining in a Surry Hills cafe about the voting process which led to her being voted off the show.”

Well, duh.

According to the newspaper she was aggrieved that “bad” dancers remained. Hmmm.

Another unnamed source from the show was concerned “good” Sydney dancers were not being supported by local “apathetic” audiences.

It also quotes the sister of current contestant Jack Chambers as saying his partner Demi Sorono was out of her depth. Lovely.

“I think the competition is a bit beyond Demi now,” she said, before suggesting another dancer, Kate Wormald would be a better match.

“I think Kate would be the perfect partner for Jack. Together they would be a sure-fire winner,” the dancer with Brisbane’s Raw Dance company said.

And this: “two dancers in particular are not getting along with the rest of the group.

“I can’t say who, but they are not pulling their weight and it is definitely getting on the nerves of the rest of the group.”

Like any dance or touring company there are likely to be rollercoaster emotions and frayed tempers, (doubly so in a reality show) but it was interesting to see how long Dance managed to enjoy a seemingly smooth ride.

Now all those with something to get off their chest please form an orderly queue to the left behind Idol’s Tarasai and Mark Holden.

  1. Bitchiness is an overstatement. These are really mild statements, actually. Compare these comments to every one of Tarisai’s mopy rants last year and you’ll see what I mean. Kassy’s spot on with everything she’s said.

Demi is definitely out of her league and should have gone the second week. Kassy went out way before her time, along with Hilton and Surumsah (I’m pretty sure I spelt that wrong). Well, I believe Suri should have stayed over JD last night anyway, he was probably the most unique contestant and it was a shame to see him leave along with his diverse Aboriginal style. Its annoying how Jack and Demi have yet to be in the bottom three, chances are they’ll go on to be among the final 4. (unless they make the contestants change partners midway through like they do on the American version). And yes, the voting process sucks and it should be free like it is in America, but that isn’t ever gonna happen for any of Ten’s shows. They’d lose one of their network’s biggest cash cows from all the people voting.

Keep in mind this was all apparently “overheard” by the Daily Telegraph. No doubt tidbits have been exaggerated in order for the media to have an interesting story.

Oh, and if we’re talking about “hawt” contestants, the two hottest chicks in the competition have left. Plenty of brilliant dancers remain though.

  2. Would you call it turning?
Thats what these shows are designed to do, create gossip, controversy, outrage and of course a but of contestant rivalry.
I dont watch the show but from an outsider POV this seems totally normal of any Aussie Reality show.
