Eurovision 2008: 2 months and counting

This is Dima Bilan with his song “Believe”, the Russian entry in Eurovision 2008. Bilan is having another tilt at the contest after failing in 2006.

The contest will be staged in Serbia (despite unrelated riots in Belgrade) on May 24.

Here’s a few other entrants to whet your appetite.

Teräsbetoni: “Where Men Ride”(Finland)

Sébastien Tellier “Divine” (France)

….and of course there’s the turkey (literally) from Ireland.

The 2008 Eurovision Song Contest will of course screen on SBS again.

  1. Yes, After 30+ years of viewing this program … EUROVISION has become somewhat of a religious experience!
How strange it will be this year when they have two semi-finals and hopefully destroy the usual “ploitical” voting of previous decades … this will be fascinating to see!
I am still hoping for Sweden to win!
    Jack!

  2. I wouldn’t say that Dima Bilan failed, so much as he wuz robbed. Remember that he came second and he was only beaten by Lordi.

As for Ireland. Wow. Just wow. Ya know, I could deal with the theoretical prospect of the Irish equivalent of Agro going to Eurovision, but now, having been exposed to the horror itself, I think I threw up a little in my mouth. That was just rancid.

I shudder to think what the Brits will retaliate with next year, since they’re obviously having a bad-off with Ireland that all started with the God-awful Jemini and escalated with Donna and Joe and, I had hoped, culminated with (ugh) Scooch last year.
