Gallery: Harold Bishop

And so, a household name finally takes his leave from our screens, after twenty years.

Ian Smith has his final appearance in Neighbours on Friday, although producers have managed to convince him to drop by for visits as the series proceeds.

Still twenty years, even if interrupted, and even with a return, is still worth acknowledging. He was a champion of the Salvos, married to Madge, stepfather to Charlene, apple of Mrs Mangel’s eye, occasional amnesiac, guardian of many including Paul, Tad, grandfather to Sky, argumentative mate to Lou, a voice of righteousness and a friendly ear at the Coffee Shop.

So strike up the tuba, start wobbling the chin and give it up for that cheery chap we know and love, ‘Harold Bishop.’

  1. Some great pics there particularly the one with Harold being strangled lol. I’m a long time Neighbours fan and he will be missed. Still the show must go on & at least he’s coming back now and then.

  2. Neighbours won’t be the same without Harold – he’s a fantastic character & having been a Neighbours fan since day 1 it’s a damn shame Ian is leaving – thou at the same time I totally understand his reason for doing so.
Its great he will pop back in every so often thou!
All the best Ian – you’ll be missed!!!
