Hot Tip: Canal Road for Wednesdays?

Nine will have its media launch of Canal Road early in April.

The 13 part Melbourne made drama-thriller stars Paul Leydon (As The World Turns, LAX, Ghost Whisperer and Law & Order: SVU) and Brooke Satchwell, Grant Bowler, Diana Glenn, Sibylla Budd and Charlie Clausen.

With Sea Patrol moving in on Monday nights, it is possible Nine is lining up Canal Road to take over from Underbelly when it concludes (early May).

2008 is arguably Nine’s strongest year for locally-produced dramas. It also still has the final series of McLeod’s Daughters up its sleeve. The show finished wrapping just before Easter.

The media launch for Canal Road will allow several weeks for the publicity wheel to turn with print deadlines and advertising to be booked.

Hopefully there are no problems with this series getting an airing in its home town!

  1. Sounds intriguing – though the promo photo above is obviously betting its promotional dollars on Brooke Satchwell’s legs 🙂

Now, how long will it take Nine to come up with an ad that intones “starring Lost’s Grant Bowler”? 😀

  2. Based on the small PR blurb I have read, this show is already looking way more appealing than the stale Sea Patrol and the over-promoted Underbelly.

This is one show I’ll be keen to check out.
