Ray for pay

Ray Martin gone from Nine screens? Not necessarily.

He may not be on the payroll with his rumoured $2m pay packet, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be contracted for single stories on 60 Minutes.

Cast and crew of the programme have planned a send-off for Martin tonight at La Grillade restaurant.

“Hopefully it won’t be the last we see of Ray on 60 Minutes,” Exec Producer Hamish Thomson said.

“The thing about Ray is that we haven’t severed our relationship with him.”

Well he did say he wanted to be a ‘gun for hire.’

Of course all of that could change with a phone call from Channel Seven.

  1. This guy (Ray Martin) just wants attention. Remember a couple of weeks ago he whined about how all television was woeful and that everything was filled with underlying messages of violence, sex and other forms of evil. Well, it certainly got better as a whole once he took his mug off the screen. It seemed like every week he would find something new to whine about, like having to get up 1.5hrs earlier for the Sunday morning show on Nine or how he didn’t feel respected or how he wanted more money. Blah. I remember on this site there was a poll on Ray Martin where the highest-voted result was a comment describing him as “boring, arrogant, old-fashioned and annoying” or something along those lines. I wish this guy would just retire and stop getting attention for the most mundane things. He’s not relevant anymore. When is he going to realise that?
