SBS: Back to you, too

SBS news and current affairs boss Paul Cutler is seeking a new, permanent reader for World News Australia to join Anton Enus.

Enus moved to the lead bulletin following the debacle of 2007 involving Mary Kostakidis and Stan Grant.

Cutler is also understood to be seeking a full-time anchor for the 9.30pm bulletin, formerly read by Enus, says The Australian.

Currently, the other reading jobs are shared around between Janice Peterson, Amrita Cheema and Lee Lin Chin.

A spokeswoman confirmed Cutler was recruiting. Shane Fankhauser, who has worked for SBS before and now reads for Deutsche Welle, is believed to be one of the names under consideration.

  1. At the time, there were a couple of stories in the SMH about him taking annual leave to compete in the tennis at the Gay Games when they were in Sydney. Nothing special, he is just a normal nice guy.

  2. I take it neither Amrita Cheema nor Lee Lin Chin are able to take on the role on a permanent basis, which is a shame because they are both excellent newsreaders – and, let’s face it, they are both fabulous.
