TEN announces Rush cast

More news today on the upcoming new TEN police drama, Rush, described as “is a contemporary action drama series set in a critical incident police unit; providing an insider’s view of police under pressure. Our heroes are a mobile squad trained to be smarter, tactically superior and technologically advantaged.”

The ensemble cast will include Rodger Corser (The Starter Wife, Last Man Standing, Underbelly), Callan Mulvey (Underbelly, Heartbreak High, Home and Away), Catherine McClements (The Secret Life Of Us, Mary Bryant, After the Deluge) and Claire Van Der Boom (Love My Way, East West 101). It will be produced by John Edwards (The Secret Life of Us, Love My Way, Out Of The Blue) and Mimi Butler (Forensic Investigators, Blue Water High).

The series will be set in the bayside suburb of Williamstown, Melbourne (ironically home of Blue Heelers’ cop shop).

Rush is added to TEN’s plans to screen Edwards’ upcoming soap, Out of the Blue, made for the UK market. It is believed the network revisited the concept in the climate of the US writers’ strike. Earlier this year TEN Drama Execeutive Sue Masters left the network to be replaced by Rick Maier.

“TEN gave us the opportunity to break new ground in drama with The Secret Life of Us and now we’ve been given that kind of opportunity all over again,” said John Edwards.

Press Release:

Network Ten and Southern Star John Edwards have announced a new Australian drama series RUSH to be produced in Melbourne.

RUSH is a contemporary action drama series set in a critical incident police unit; providing an insider’s view of police under pressure. Our heroes are a mobile squad trained to be smarter, tactically superior and technologically advantaged.

RUSH features an ensemble cast including Rodger Corser (The Starter Wife, Last Man Standing, Underbelly), Callan Mulvey (Underbelly, Heartbreak High, Home and Away), Catherine McClements (The Secret Life Of Us, Mary Bryant, After the Deluge) and Claire Van Der Boom (Love My Way, East West 101).

RUSH is a Southern Star John Edwards production, and will be produced by John Edwards (The Secret Life of Us, Love My Way, Out Of The Blue) and Mimi Butler (Forensic Investigators, Blue Water High).

“TEN gave us the opportunity to break new ground in drama with The Secret Life of Us and now we’ve been given that kind of opportunity all over again,” said John Edwards (producer).

Mimi Butler (producer) added, “It’s exciting to be part of the next generation of action based drama. It’s a very sexy cast, gun writers and a great chance to push the storytelling.”

Executive Producer, Drama and Production, Network Ten, Rick Maier said: “Tonally this is a perfect fit for us. The idea is clean, the characters are complex, and the production team is the best in the business.”

“It’s also terrific to be working again with Script Producer Chris Lee (Police Rescue, The Secret Life Of Us). As with Secret Life of Us, the scripts are the key to a great series, and the writing team for RUSH is one of the best you will see. With Andrew Prowse (Farscape, Wildside, McLeod’s Daughters) to direct, and the sensational calibre of this cast we’re hopeful RUSH will have an immediate impact for the audience.”

Film Victoria CEO, Sandra Sdraulig, welcomes the production to Victoria saying, “We are thrilled that John Edwards and his team chose to film the series here. We look forward to working with the cast and crew, and believe Victoria’s quality locations and skilled practitioners will contribute significantly to the success of the production.”

Production of RUSH will be based in Victoria and will commence in May 2008.

RUSH is a Southern Star John Edwards production for Network Ten produced with the assistance of Film Victoria.

  2. I totally love Rush. It is the best show EVER!!! i reckon it’s even better then some of the American cop shows. WOOHOO Josh and Grace get together!!!

PS Randy give me a tv show that doesn’t stretch the truth.

  3. Randy September 3rd:
That’s a shame u don’t like it, and ur right it is unbelievable, it’s a fictictious TV drama. The truth needs to be strecthed to keep us entertained, shocked, presented with new views/opinons to make us think, excitment. That’s entertainment.

    Dear Rush,
Keep up the GOOD work, it’s great to see a new aussie drama, it might not be the greatest production but much better than other dramas out there, and a extreme improvement of what has been aired in resent times, (influx of reality tv). It would be good to admire the awesome aussie actor rather than a kid who has a party or gets a new set of purchased breast.

  4. If they stop making Rush i could NOT live

Don’t stop making Rush. It is the best best best best best best best best best best best best
show ever invented. Oh and the best Police Drama ever made

  5. Rush is totally the best show ever made

The characters are sooooooooo cool and they have so much fun doing it. it beats all of my tv shows and movies. It’s really interesting to watch. I am like obsessed with it. It is suppose to be a high risk when they save people and they know it. Obviously they would do crazy things it’s a Tv show, which is to entertain and it totally does. Next week is just OMG!!!!!!!!! Josh and Grace are sooooooo cute together. Oh it is really dramatic. The promo for next week…you think oh no! at the same time yes! I reckon that Rush is wel…
Awesome, great, what the hell! (sometimes, but that’s what makes it so awsome) If you’ve seen the ‘behind the scenes’ it looks like sooooo much fun. It would be so cool to be playing in Rush. I reckon that the people they chose would probably be the best you can get, they are so good at playing the character they are playing. OMG!!! I totally love their uniforms. I would kill to wear one of those. It just looks Amazing. Rush is seriously the best show ever.

  6. Geez Randy…

I think you need to get out more…yeah, some things are a little fartfetched, but stop looking into it so much, I reckon it’s a pretty good show, and good on them for making a great new australian drama.

  7. Well Rush has now aired and was a massive dissapointment, just so unbelievable. They have a new woman in charge of the team who on the way to the station smashes her exes car windows with a bar then rams his car twice with her Governement supplied car and nothing happens… She doesnt have to fill out an incident report… no neighbour calls the police and shes not charged with 75 offences over the ramming. Next a cop crawls into an unsecured vehicle that is on the edge of a large drop to rescue 2 kids… meanwhile the 2 officers with him dont even hold the rear pillars of the car or secure it to a tree or do anything at all while hes in there…sorry but awful script writing.. I wont go on any more but there was still a lot more bad scriptwriting, trust me….

  8. ‘Rush’
maybe it is about corrupt police keeping the drugs from raids and thier parties they have with them…

Seiously, if John Edwards has anyhing to do with them, they should be good.

We do however, need another SLOU or LMW style drama.

  9. I’m really excited by some of these new aussie dramas coming up.

But what’s with the name? ‘Rush’ sounds more like a racing or sports show!
