Airdate: Australia’s Next Top Model

For those about to catfight we salute you.

The next series of one of Foxtel’s most popular local brands begins in three weeks time. The fourth edition of Australia’s Next Top Model premieres at 7:30pm Tuesday April 22, hosted by Jodhi Meares (pictured).

There are 13 girls aged 16 to 21 vying for a modelling contract like the one awarded to Alice Burdeu last year.

Of course what Foxtel doesn’t tell you is that the 2006 winner Eboni Stocks is now a waitress in a Sydney restaurant.

“She’s a good girl and she’s had a tough time,” Pavarotti manager Frank Purcell told Confidential. “She asked me for some casual work and so far she’s turned out to be a great waitress.”

When auditioning prospective candidates last year ANTM producers asked many personal questions including, “Have you ever been diagnosed with, or treated for, alcoholism or any other drug-related addiction? How often do you lose your temper? When was the last time you hit, punched or kicked something in anger? Have you ever been to a nude beach?

Still, Big Brother is equally comprehensive in its audition process, and ANTM certainly has a loyal fanbase.

Press Release:

In just three weeks, AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL will explode back onto our screens with 13 new, very savvy wannabe models, new secrets and twists, two international destinations and the most intense competition seen to date.

Hosted by Jodhi Meares , AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL is FOX8’s locally produced, hit reality series that follows a group of young women as they try to prove they have what it takes to make it in the high-stress, high-stakes world of modelling.

This fourth series premieres exclusively on FOX8 on Tuesday, April 22 at 7.30pm with an action-packed 90-minute special episode full of all the tears, tantrums and high drama viewers have come to expect from the show.

The search for AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL began late last year when thousands of girls auditioned across the country for a shot at modelling fame.

Just 13 young hopefuls aged 16 to 21 were selected to live together in a waterfront mansion and star in the series. During the 10 weeks of filming, which commenced earlier this year, the finalists are transformed from attractive girls-next-door into potential working models, while navigating their way through various modelling assignments and tasks.

At the end of each week, Meares leads the panel of judges including leading fashion designer Alex Perry and fashion identity Charlotte Dawson as they assess task performance and potential, and make the difficult decision as to who to eliminate. AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL will culminate later this year in a massive, live finale, with the winner taking home a prize package including a one year contract with premiere model agency Priscilla’s Model Management; a trip to New York; a Ford Fiesta XR4; a contract as the face of Napoleon Perdis which includes an international photo shoot; and an eight-page fashion feature with Vogue Australia.

Last year saw willowy redhead Alice Burdeu take home the coveted title. She has since gone on to appear on the cover of Vogue Australia , and is now based in New York where she is represented by leading agency Elite.

Her international catwalk debut was a huge success, and saw her working in New York, London, Paris and Milan for top designers including Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Dolce & Gabbana, Ann Demeulemeester, Margiela, Louis Vuitton and McQueen to name a few.

Produced by Granada Productions for FOXTEL, AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL is subscription television’s highest rating general entertainment series, with last year’s series smashing all previous viewing figures.

Premieres FOX8 on Tuesday, April 22 at 7.30pm.

  1. I would love to watch the Aussie version but unfortunately we don’t have Foxtel. For those who have watched the show – how does it compare to the U.S. version which we do watch when it eventually comes to free-to-air tv.
