Ole! La Telenovela Channel coming soon

Break out the Kleenex, we’re getting a Telenovela channel! Get ready for stunning girls, hunky guys, and over the top storylines (sounds like Chances all over again!).

Latin American broadcaster Globo TV will launch a La Telenovela Channel in Australia. It will target Spanish speaking viewers.

“Globo is famous for its telenovelas and its huge production volume; 90% of shows on TV Globo are Brazilian, and we produce 99% of that inhouse,” said a Globo TV exec. “But our offer is highly diverse: We make comedies, dramas and documentaries, as well as telenovelas.”

At a presentation at the MIP TV conference in Cannes, Globo showcased Tropical Paradise, The Cleaning Lady, Under New Management and Antonia.

No word yet who will be offering the channel. SelecTV already offers a number of Spanish speaking channels.
