Reality checks in and out with TEN

As it goes down to the wire, the final four contestants for So You Think You Can Dance Australia will perform on Sunday April 20.

But there is no vote-off show on Monday 21st, because the format of the show always requires 2 couples in its grand finale.

The finale is expected to be confirmed for Sunday April 27 (it sure as hell isn’t earlier!). Staged in the same Carriageworks venue as its weekly editions, it will include, as previously reported, a performance by UK singer Leona Lewis.

This would suggest Big Brother could launch May 4th, unless TEN decides to do a double whammy of Dance / BB on the same night or as also widely tipped Monday April 28.

Meanwhile a Biggest Loser finale is also to be confirmed for the week of April 27. Previously these have been a weeknight affair for TEN. One rumour suggests Thursday May 1st.

When asked by TV Tonight earlier this week, TEN was unable to confirm the scheduling of its big reality finales / premieres.

TEN will replace the Dance vote off with a UK doco The Truth about Binge Drinking with former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton.

  1. If TEN can get SYTYCD finale, BL finale and BB premiere all in the same week they’re going to be laughing and will hopefully see them with a WIN the first since 2006 I think?!?!

They need to be smart about which shows they program after each BIG EVENT, they need to put shows with a smaller following but shows that have the potential to be big hits to maximise the exposure they will get.

  2. Don’t forget that The Biggest Loser is aslo running in tandem with SYTYCD and will aslo have a finale show scheduled at around the same time. From memory last year BB commenced on the Sunday evening (having been recorded on the Saturday) and TBL finale was on the following Thursday evening.

This year with Dance in the mix Ch10 has a busy time on its hands.

  3. It’s all but confirmed that the Big Brother launch will tape on Sunday 27th April and air Monday 28th of April.

That’s the word on the street from a reputable source over at behindbigbrother.com.
