BBC filming kids for Outback 8

At first news of Outback 8 was sounding like Kid Nation or My Kid’s a Star all over again, but in fact a BBC series filming kids as jackaroos is claiming to be observational, not reality.
Still I’m guessing it will manage to make news across the coming months nonetheless.
One of our networks is reportedly involved with the programme shooting in Queensland (just haven’t worked out which one!).
The format?
“We’ve taken four Australian children, four British children, aged between 12 and 14, and we’ve brought them to Longreach to learn basically how to be jackeroos,” spokesperson Geoff Cooper said.
It is currently being filmed on a working sheep and cattle property in central western Queensland.
Cooper says it is hoped the program will help to inform young people about rural life.
Hope they got some friendly Shetland ponies….

david knox if you read this plz convince ten to make another series lol.
ive been riding for four years and i love the outback. i have hand reared cats and it was a great expierience and i would love to go on the show to go horse riding and be around all the animals. i would be prepared and be up for anything. if ten does decide to create another series plz send me some info
when can i try out
I hope there is a 09 series coming out because i would defiantly consider sighning up. It would be a awesome experience. I can ride a horse but not to keen on the canter and gallop but i can get teh hang of it. I love cows and have always wanted to work with cattle. I think it would be good to learn young.
*Please tell me if they are making a new series*
Oooo! I’m with Gini on this1. Please send me details!!! 😉
I wanna be on the show… I love horses, but I have never tried western riding. It looks more fun and I’d love to ,though how old you have to be series. I don’t know! But, please start another series 🙂
Hey its Gini
I love how u have produced this tv series to show people of how hard it is on the land. Im wuld love to go on tv show for many reason. so if you could please send me details of wen the next series will be on i would love that
Tjis show is the best show in the world is there another series because i really want to go on the show. I love the outback and I am crazy about horses i love hard work and i am made for the outback. My mums family all came from the country and i am verry good at riding horses. I think this show is the best show in history. The best thing on the show was the horses and the hard work i am made for hard work.
do u have to be a horse rider?
“Outback 8” is an excellent show. Kids are shown doing regular tasks (with supervision) so they are really challenged with real situations (Not like Kid Nation) instead of games. I hope they make more shows like “Outback 8”
Happy Christmas, etc.
I’ve just turned 14 and I watch the show every Monday and enjoy watching it alot. I hope there will be a second series.
I myself would send in an application as it would be a wonderful and thrilling experience. Although I’ve just started riding 6mths ago it would be a great learning experience. It is hard for city kids like myself to go out and do this type of thing. I mean there are horse riding camps as such but they don’t give you a sense of working in the outback, looking after your own horse, mustering cattle etc. Most of these activities can only be accomplished by living on an actual farm environment.
Even if I never get a chance to go on the show I’m sure it would make someone just as happy.
I’m sure at one stage of our lives we’ve all wanted to work on a farm and be a Jackaroo or Jillaroo – For me I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of It! I even hope to go to longreach when I’ve finished school
How do you sign up? =)
Kind Regards,
Tamara
Hi,
I have been watching outback 8 every week.
i think it would be awesome and i would love to be able to do it.
The only things is im 16 so i am to old, but i was hoping that there could possibly be another one for older teens because it would be a Privilege to be taught all about being a jillaroo/jackaroo.
it would be a dream come true,
it is a pitty on the website that you dont have some form of communication so that more people could tell you stuff 🙂
Regards Dimity,
hey that show is awesome is it on again and how do you get into it ?
Hi everyone,
I was the series producer of Outback 8, from the BBC. It’s great to read all your posts/ comments on here. I’m so glad you’re loving the series, and there’s still so much more to come including the final muster; not forgetting the Longreach Show this Monday.
Keep watching and keep your comments coming as it’s always great to hear from the target audience/age group.
