Eurovision: the ballads

Moldova is blowing bubbles for Eurovision, with its lounge number “A Century of Love.”

The song sounds like something out of France in the 1960s, but will it make it to the final next weekend? Some of the other ballads this year include several Enrique Iglesias sound-a-likes. Dima Bilan from Russia, making his second appearance, is the bookies’ favourite.

I quite like Albania’s entry amongst these, and as I’ve noted before, Poland’s Isis Gee (yeah I know she’s American, but that’s EV for ya!). With one more week to go I’ll be profiling a few more songs for good Eurotrash fans.

Switzerland: Paolo Meneguzzi: Era Stupendo

Russia: Dima Bilan: Believe

San Marino: Miodo: Complice

Romania: Nico and Vlad: Pe-o Margine de Lume

Serbia: Jelena Tomasevic: Oro

Albania: Olta Boka: Zemren e lame Peng

Ireland still leads the Aussie polling at eurotragic.com and I am blogging other aspects of the event at the SBS Eurovision blog.

  1. As much as I’d like to see Dima take it out, I don’t imagine it will happen. Unfortunately, Believe is a little too bland, but after he was so cruelly robbed a couple of years ago, I think he deserves it.
