Footy Show added to 9HD

From tonight Nine’s Footy Show (AFL) will screen on 9HD -meaning viewers in NSW and QLD will be able to watch it live if they have HDTV or an HD set top box.

It’s certainly a smart use of 9HD, allowing northern AFL fans to see the show simultaneously as southern viewers. Next thing NRL fans in the south will be screaming for the Footy Show (NRL) to screen live too….

Tonight’s show will feature Shane Crawford, Matthew Lloyd and Chad Cornes. Singer Gabriella Cilmi performs her hit ‘Sweet About Me.’

Footy Classified will also air Monday nights on 9HD.

Press Release:

Join Garry Lyon, James Brayshaw, Sam Newman and Trevor Marmalade for all the latest news and entertainment from the world of AFL on The Footy Show, tonight at 9.30pm on Nine.

We celebrate the return of State of Origin footy and preview the Hall of Fame Tribute Match on Saturday. Special guests include Victorian captain Jonathan Brown, Dream Team superstar Matthew Pavlich, and the respective coaches from both sides, Bomber Thompson and Mark Williams.

  1. Stan i’m not making a judgment as to the merits of the Footy Show being in HD (because honestly, I never watch the show in any case), but if I’d paid $$$ for a HDTV and tuner with most prime time TV now in HD, then *IF* i wanted to watch the Footy Show in HD i should not have to settle for the interstate version in a superior HD format and having the local one in SD.

  2. I think this is a good idea. Finally, TV stations are taking the advantage of the technology available to their per use and give us more viewing choice, even if it’s just a footy show.

@ televisionau: Do you believe that the NRL footy show is better in HD than SD? Don’t make me laugh.

  3. what about Invasion? i was enjoying watching that on 9HD 9:30pm on thursdays, now what am i supposed to watch at that time since lost got moved later? it’s not like they can say invasion got bad ratings, they don’t measure them, i thought that would make the HD schedule somewhat reliable, but i guess reliable isn’t in the channel 9 vocabulary.

  4. so does this mean if I live in Sydney or Brisbane and (for whatever reason) I wanted to watch the NRL Footy Show in HD, I can’t, but instead have the AFL show live in HD?
