Here’s the story …of a lovely painting

Any guesses which Brady Bunch cast member is the artist behind this painting?

This still life painting is one of several on display in a Laguna Beach Gallery. The artist behind them said, “I started painting about 20 years ago, and it’s been very much an off and on process, with life interrupting and crushing rejection, ’cause if I could have chosen two more rejection field careers, I could not imagine more than acting and painting.

“But painting I can do on my own time, at my own pace. It’s completely my own decision, and I have control – that’s why I’ve stayed with it through all those hard times. It’s liking something enough stay through the times when you’re wasting supplies, it seems like. It’s perseverance.”

To find out which Brady actor it is, read on.

It’s Eve Plumb, aka Jan Brady, who was profiled in The OCRegister

Q:Are you still acting?
A:Yeah, I am. But that is something you have very little control over. You can’t make that happen the way you can make a painting happen. I still have an agent, and I’ll audition for voiceovers and anything they can get me in for.

Q:How has growing up in the limelight influenced your life?
A:It’s the only thing I’ve ever known, just the way your life is the only thing you’ve ever known, so you just sort of deal. It’s been wonderful and great. It’s afforded me lot of opportunity is what it’s done. It’s been part of my life. It’s hard to step back and take a look at it. Sure, I could have made other choices, but these are the choices I made.

Q:What was your favorite part about growing up Brady?
A:The travel was a lot of fun. We got to travel to film the shows, and then there was that awful variety act we performed live at state fairs and Knott’s Berry Farm and the like. I had already been acting for six years by then, so I had done a lot of television work before The Brady Bunch came along. I was already familiar with the process.

A great thing was that I got to hang out with my mom all day. I think children really enjoy being around adults. I loved sitting around, listening to the moms talk.

And I learned a profession from wonderful professionals. Florence Henderson, Robert Reed and Ann B. Davis were all incredible professionals and so giving, so I learned a profession.
