Returning: Supernatural. Bumped: BB, Rove, Conchords

TEN is adjusting its Sunday line-up with a number of changes that indicate is under-performing.

Supernatural will return on Sunday June 8 at 9:40pm.

This weekend June 1 Big Brother Live Eviction moves back to 7pm following a shorter half hour show. It will last for two hours.

The following week, June 8, Big Brother evictions remains at 7pm but ends at 8:30pm allowing Rove to start at the friendlier 8:30pm timeslot, with Supernatural at 9:40pm. Flight of the Conchords moves to 10:40pm.

No doubt Rove (and fans) will be happier with the earlier timeslot given BB hasn’t afforded the show any strong lead-in.

The two hour BB eviction this weekend suggests there are extra plans afoot for the coming weekend. Behindbigbrother.com speculates that intruders will enter the house this weekend.

TV Tonight has always felt there are bigger problems with the Sunday format this year, the principal one being it takes too long to watch housemates nominate at the expense of limited action on the live stage. Producers also dropped the “revolving door” which was a fizzer on the first eviction show.

Supernatural returns with the episode “Ghostfacers” (US: April 2008) the first new episode produced after the conclusion of the writers’ strike. There will be three more eps before the season ends.

  1. Yes I agree with in the shadows if you don’t like a show why are you watching it. I love everything about Supernatural, the great acting from Jensen and Jared and the fantastic chemistry they have on screen. The urban legends, ghost hunting, demons, bobby, impala and the rock music. The last four eps are awesome some of the best that I have seen. The show is really growing and the writers are very talented. Thank you channel 10.

  2. Come on, Supernatural is the best thing on TV, to me anyway.
It’s okay to have an opinion, but can we stop with the completely negative attitude towards it.
I’ve been watching it from the start, never missed an episode, and I love it! And if you think it’s not great and you hate it,, then don’t watch it,, easy fixed!

  3. I will be right there watching the return of Supernatural. IMO the best show on TV. I have heard from US fans that the season 3 finale is excellent… so cannot wait to see for myself. I love the great acting, suspense and of course the Impala.
For those who are able to ‘think outside the square’ and enjoy seeing some imaginative screen work I am sure you will enjoy the next episode called ‘Ghostfacers’….

  4. I can tell you what happens in the next Supernatural episode and I haven’t even seen it:
    First scene: something scary happens
Second scene: hot brother says/does something sexist, while the other brother scoffs at his attitude
    Middle bit: Boring investigative stuff
Last bit: Case solved. Hot brother says something sarcastic.
    *YAWN*

  5. Amazing how the word “opinion” and phrases like “everyone has different tastes” seem to elude some.
If one person doesn’t like a show it doesn’t mean that it is in actual fact a bad show, it just means some like it and some don’t.

A simple analogy, I hate peas 🙂 Don’t mean there bad and people should give up o growing them. They just taste like crap to me 🙂 But my brother eats them on their own in a bowl with a little butter…

    🙂 🙂 🙂

  6. tashheartsspn I’ve watched every episode of the show and it is far from the best show on TV. It has its moments, in fact Mystery Spot and Jus In Bello, the two latest episodes broadcast in Aus were brilliantly executed moments in the series. These last 4 episodes are absolutely atrocious though. In fact I’d go on to say its one of the worst series, if you have any doubt at all watch next Sunday’s episode “Ghostfacers”. Television at its worst. And with close to all the characters in the show now dead or in hell, I definitely won’t be watching next season. Formulaic and monotonous is an understatement for this show.

  7. There have been a lot of fans anxiously awaiting the return of Supernatural and the last four episodes of season 3. This show goes from strength to strength.

  8. YAY!!!!
This is such good news for us supernatural fans!
We’ve been waiting for the final eps and finally there here 😀
And Supernatural is the best TV show i’ve ever seen, just give it a chance.

  9. Great news….bring back Supernatural is a great choice even if it isnt to its regular spot…excited for the last 3 episodes of season 3
    bring on season 4

    cut bb altogether please

  10. There are no Formula 1 races until June 22 (although the Canadian Grand prix on on June 8, but will probably be live on Ten as it takes place about 2am) – by then the IPL will be long gone, we might even see F1 live on Ten HD from 9:30 after Rove.

  11. To fangerA101,

I don’t think he ever has blamed another show for his show’s performance.

However, a few of us (fans) have. Our reasons include the fact that the show starts @ 9 pm while other shows on Seven & Nine commence @ 8:30 pm.

There’s usually a decline in the ratings pattern when it’s on a later slot. Another would be (as mentioned in the blog) the lead-in by BB.

  12. I really hope Rove isn’t blaming Big Brother for his poor poor ratings, as much as I don’t like BB Rovey ole boy should take a look at his format and content before blaming his poor ratings on other people!!!

  13. Supernatural’s last 4 episodes are absolutely horrific. What begun as a fantastic season has sunk extremely low and the “plot twist” in the final episode is extremely predictable and cliche’d. The addition of the characters Ruby and Bela was a nice update to the show but they only appeared like 3 times each over 16 whole episodes and then they got rid of them due to “budget cuts”…what a load of waffle. It seems like every season since season 1 has just been a whole load of melodramatic crap with one of the brothers dying and the other one trying to figure out a way to save them. They can’t keep up that tired plot for another 5 seasons or they’ll run out of ways to kill them off and resurrect them. This show doesn’t touch Buffy or Angel at all in terms of quality TV. As for the others, Rove was funnier 5 years ago in the old Tuesday 9:30pm slot, Conchords is just as lame and boring as 30 Rock and Scrubs and Big Brother lost its spark many a year ago. Its better than reruns of Mean Girls I suppose.

  14. Great…F1 fans get to wait until midnight…typical from TEN. Not only do they edit the races, but they don’t even want to show the hacked race at a reasonable time (10.30 on a Sunday is more than reasonable). No wonder F1 fans across Australia have begun using the internet.

  15. Indeed we are happier, we can finally stop whining about the 9 pm timeslot.

When it’s back to the 8:30 pm slot it’ll provide viewers with options rather than being restricted by Big Brother dragging on for an extra half hour.

    Good move Ten
