Seven settles with Mercedes

Press Release:

Statement on Mercedes Corby

The Seven Network has concluded a confidential settlement with Mercedes Corby’s lawyers this afternoon.

There will be no further statements as the terms of the settlement preclude either party making any further comment regarding that settlement.

The settlement between Seven and Mercedes Corby followed a victory statement by Corby:

“I’m relieved Today Tonight has been held accountable for their … story.

“It is sad when a hunt for ratings overtakes the truth.

“Ratings may be important to Channel Seven but the truth should be more important.”

Ms Corby said she hoped the current affairs program had learned a lesson from her legal win.

“I really hope that in future, Today Tonight thinks hard before broadcasting attacks and lies about somebody,” she said.

“It may be just showbiz and ratings for Today Tonight, but it is real people they hurt.”

  1. Just to add, this would make a great flick. Kinda like the Wild Things movie a while back. Two best friends start a fight and each air their side on two rival tv shows. One claims deformation and sues the other and the other best friend takes a dive and admits she lied to the network on the stand and the network has to pay out millions, and in the end it turns out it was just a clever plot hatched by the two friends.

Imagine how many day trips out of jail that will get for miss Corby!! Ok sorry, just kidding!! 🙂
