And here are some headlines we prepared earlier

TV Tonight understands a third series of Newstopia has been commissioned by SBS.

The news satire show, produced by FremantleMedia and starring Shaun Micallef, is likely to screen around October.

Joining Micallef last season were Kat Stewart, Nicholas Bell with guest roles from Lee Lin Chin, Anton Enus and Ed Kavalee.

Micallef is currently appearing in the stage revival of Boeing Boeing, a play which despite being nominated for Tony Awards, got bad reviews in Melbourne, leading to a cancelled season in Sydney.

  1. It is with much sadness that I greeted the news of Newstopia’s 3rd season return. Sad because it always seems that Shaun Micallef – undoubtedly, indisputably and exceedingly – the funniest man in the Universe, has to try so hard to get his shows to air. I suppose I would be even sadder if he had to dumb down his humour to make it more palatable to the ignoramuses out their who actually think they know what humour is. Keep it up Shaun – your cerebral witticisms are not wasted on the minority of humankind (i.e. the smartest 10%) who appreciate a good grey matter workout every Wednesday night. The intense struggle will I suppose make the laughter outbreaks each week all the sweeter. Jahassra, and good night.

  2. WOO! I Love Newstopia.
I’m sad Boeing Boeing didn’t do well though. I went to see it last week and thought it was fantastic, albeit a bit slow to start off. I got the chance to interview the cast afterward, but I sound like a giggling idiot talking to Shaun. I admit it, I’m a crazy fan. 🙂

  3. Woo-hoo on the news of a third season of NEWStopia! October will be a long wait but that’s okay since at least it’ll be back. Thanks.
