Bumped: Daily Show, Colbert Report.

Lookout Tracy and Anna -the Yanks have you in their firing line. Now there will be news with bite, early in the night.

The Comedy Channel is set to screen The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report in back to back screenings at 6:30 and 7:00pm. They will air only four hours after the US.

The switch to early evenings will begin from Tuesday July 15. They will air Tuesdays to Fridays on Comedy.

The sharply presented news / comedies / satires / talk shows will provide a counter-act to the consumer-driven and tabloid stories of ACA and TT.

“Intelligent people also need entertaining and thus, we’ve decided to throw them a bone,” said Alex Ristevski, Manager of The Comedy Channel.

The earlier scheduling is a promotion from current times of 9:30 and 10:00pm. From mid July they will be repeated at the adjusted time of 10:00 and 10:30pm.

But can they get anybody related to the gangland wars?

Press Release:
In a move which has been hailed amongst many as the most humane act of television programming, The Comedy Channel today announces that THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART and THE COLBERT REPORT will go prime time at 6.30pm weeknights from Tuesday, July 15 – airing just over four hours after the U.S (Tuesday to Friday).

This announcement has been made in response to the increasingly disheartened cries of Australian audiences as their 6.30pm television viewing options have been diminished to shopping trolley poachers and naughty neighbours.

Alex Ristevski, Channel Manager of The Comedy Channel [and man of few words] comments, “Intelligent people also need entertaining and thus, we’ve decided to throw them a bone.”

Unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity or even accuracy, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports and entertainment with an alternative point of view. In each show, anchorman Jon Stewart and a team of correspondents, including Aasif Mandvi, John Oliver, Rob Riggle, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, comment on the day’s stories, employing actual news footage, taped field pieces, in-studio guests and on-the-spot coverage of important news events.

THE COLBERT REPORT has been touted by the New York Times as “one of the best television shows of the year” and praised as “a must-watch show” by U.S. magazine Entertainment Weekly. Colbert’s personality, insight and overall rightness led to his half-hour nightly platform which takes on issues of the day, and more importantly, tells you why everyone else’s take is just plain wrong.

Among the most popular of The Comedy Channel’s programming line-up, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART and THE COLBERT REPORT will continue to closely follow the forthcoming U.S. presidential election and bring to light major international affairs, exposing them for all their hilarity.

PROGRAMMING SUMMARY (starting Tuesday July 15):
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart – Monday to Friday at 6.30pm AEST
The Colbert Report – Monday to Friday at 7.00pm AEST

  1. And Foxtel just saved me another hour of live streaming on the comp, they have aired them many times on Foxtel, but usually at odd times and never really together, this will be much better than TT or ACA.

  2. Meh, Foxtel 🙂

But David, shouldn’t that headline read “promoted” (or similar) rather than “bumped” (which implies a lessening of stature/importance)?
