A (slightly) early eviction

Big Brother’s official website jumped the gun tonight by revealing its evictee Bianca before it had screened the moment on television.

For several minutes before the on-air eviction the site had a story headlined Bianca Booted!

“The Italian Princess who was dubbed “bitch, boobs and brains” has been given her marching orders by the nation, falling victim to the Eviction vote,” it said.

In other news, our trusty hosts had some interesting phrases tonight:

Jackie O: “Someone will definitely go tonight.”

Jackie O: “This could be the first time you could leave the house.”

Bianca: “Hey I spoon my dog…”
Jackie: “There’s nothing wrong with that!”

Kyle: “The world’s most famous blonde in the world, Pamela Anderson is goin in.”

I may be paraphrasing but you get the gist….

  1. More on “Live” Big Brother. On Big Mouth, when Tony Squires says he’s crossing “live” to the house, it is recorded earlier in the day, according to both the DIY Diary on the Official Site and the Fan Diary on Behind Big Brother, created from viewers of the “live” stream (actually 7 minutes delayed).

  2. I really hope that BB will be back next year but I doubt it it isn’t doing that well in the ratings BB has stiff competition every night it is on two and a half bozos on nine and home and away on seven and on Sunday it has the great domestic blitz and 60 minutes on nine I think that they should have kept up late surely it would have won its timeslot I really miss up late sometimes it used to influence the way I voted I wonder how much ten pays for BB out of the 25 million it costs to make if they do bring it back next year then they should dump king vile and replace him with mike Goldman and they should also bring back up late and have live streaming on HD like they do with BB UK

  3. Mike Goldman has addressed the topic of the live eviction in his blog. He basically confirmed that the show is broadcast live until the eviction itself, when a slight delay to the broadcast is introduced for a few minutes so that they can have the evictee on stage within a minute of their leaving the house. Basically, when they go to the ad break, while we’re watching ads, the person is evicted and brought to the back of the stage. We’re then shown the eviction and, hey presto, they appear live on stage, even though they were in the house a minute beforehand. Basically, it’s live for almost the whole show other than the section where the housemate is actually evicted and leaves the house.

  4. They always say “Live – House” which isn’t incorrect cos even if the show itself is live to tape which a source who went to last weeks eviction said the whole thing is in fact live, except for, as someone mentioned – they announce the evictee in the ad break and go on tape delay from that point on.

There is just no vibe this year with the show and I think uplate out of the schedule does not help.

  5. TEN will always argue BB hits demographics but based on figures you would have to say no… however…. no doubt the sale price will drop for next year. If TEN look at stripping it differently they might not damage the overall schedule so much.

Seven and Nine would also revisit buying the show if it became available and could truly reinvent it. Doesn’t mean they would necessarily take it tho.

  6. Yeah, No. When it means join them live they mean on TV. They wouldn’t be putting that in a TV guide for you to be there in person…….

    Just another question David.
In your opinion do you think that BB will be back next year? Looking at channel 10 as a whole BB is really one of their shows that is doing the best as a network. Because it seems only Law and Order are getting the highest figures on the network where as their other shows aren’t.

I know BB has been getting hit in the ratings compared to the other networks shows but ten seem to be failing as a whole network not just BB failing.

BB takes allot of airtime up and personally I think it would be a crazy decision for them to axe the show. What would they put in its place more Simpson’s? Don’t get me wrong I like the Simpson’s but… seriously.

  7. Just gone back and checked TEN guides and you’re right it does have Live. In previous years I remember seeing a “LIVE” superimposed on the screen which I haven’t seen this year.

Looking back at previous Guides TEN also had LIVE for Monday eliminations on SYTYCD. There were two pre-recorded elements in this every week too.

Friday Night Live however, is not listen in Guides as actually Live, despite the dubious title.

  8. Even in TV Guides its listed as:
Big Brother – Live Eviction 9
    7.30pm – 8.40pm TEN
    Sunday 6 July 2008

Who will leave the Big Brother house tonight? Join hosts Kyle and Jackie O, live from Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, for all the action.

  9. Um yes they do. That call it the Live Eviction show. Even FNL gets represented as live even thought its clearly not. TO be quite honest I dont know they they dont do the evictions fully live anyway.

  10. I know for a fact that when they say they will announce the evictee in the ad break thats when they film them leaving so it appears the house is next to the stage and they are there automatically. Even though for 7 years they have proven that there is a distance from the house to the stage. To be honest I dont know why they have done it this way it should have satyed the same with the announcement way like all 7 series.
